The 10th UK Learning Analytics Network meeting is taking place at The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow on Wednesday 3rd May. Strathclyde has a vibrant learning analytics initiative – see Ainsley Hainey’s blog for further details. We’ll be hearing about that from Deputy Associate Principal, Brian Green in the afternoon.
The main theme of the day is what next for learning analytics? The day will kick off with a welcome from Helyn Gould and a brief update on Jisc’s learning analytics project. Next up, Patrick Lynch from the University of Hull presents his insights on the promising potential of learning analytics to inform learning design. Participants at the recent LAK17 in Vancouver, who were informed about recent worldwide research in the area, will then update us on their reflections from the conference.
During lunchtime, there’ll be an opportunity to view the latest offerings from some of the leading vendors in this space. After lunch, anyone struggling with an institutional business case for learning analytics can benefit from the experience of entrepreneur, Tony Sceales, Jisc’s consultant, who has developed a useful costing tool. We also hope to learn from Jisc’s recently appointed data scientist on what to look out for when analysing data on learners and their activities. Finally, we finish with a panel session where leading vendors will present their visions for where learning analytics is heading next.
You’re advised to book early as there are only 80 places available and the event is likely to be oversubscribed.

Hi
I would be interested attending but could not make it on the day. Is it possible to streaming or recording the talks? Thank you very much!
Hope the meeting go well.
Regards
Hello Miki
We’re going to see what we can do to broadcast most of the event using a fairly low tech approach which worked quite well at our last network event. I’ll tweet the link to the broadcast if you want to check @sclater just before the event starts.
Best wishes
Niall
