Jisc’s next UK Learning Analytics Network meeting is taking place at The University of Exeter on Wednesday 22nd Feb. Exeter is relatively advanced with its learning analytics initiative, and we’re particularly looking forward to hearing from Prof Wendy Robinson, Academic Dean for Students, and her colleagues, who will kick off the day.
One of the main themes of the day will be examining the links between learning gain and learning analytics. Dr Camille Kandiko Howson from KCL will present on Measuring learning gain: big data, learning analytics, tests and surveys. We’ll also be hearing from Dr Ian Scott, Assoc Dean Student Experience at Oxford Brookes who leads both his University’s projects in these areas.
As well as the usual opportunities for networking with others implementing learning analytics at their institutions, there’ll be a chance to hear about Jisc’s latest innovations in the area, including demos of Data Explorer (a new tool for analysing your institution’s learning analytics data) and Study Goal (the student app).
In the afternoon Dr John Whitmer will present from California on his latest research findings. John is Director for Analytics and Research at Blackboard and one of the leading experts in the field.
You’re advised to book early as there are only 80 places available and the event is likely to be oversubscribed.

Hi Niall – any chance of this event being streamed?
Mhm – I would have loved to have it streamed or recorded as well. Especially the Data Explorer, Study goal, and “Measuring learning gain”.!
Sorry – it’s not going to be possible this time. Stay tuned for some screencasts of Study Goal and Data Explorer.
Hi,
Are Wednesday’s presentations going to be made available?
Hi Robert, yes, bear with me. Working on it just now.
